She was a Haitian Vodou priestess and revolutionary figure who played a significant role in the Haitian Revolution. She is remembered for her participation in the Bois Caïman ceremony, a pivotal event that sparked the slave uprising against French colonial rule in 1791. Cécile's spiritual leadership and bravery inspired many in the fight for Haitian independence.
