Descripción de la obra

The scene is the epilogue of a desolate battle. A tragic battle that ended not long ago, and which was violent. And of which its traces are still preserved. It is the moment of defeat and also the solitary and silent respite that will make him rise again. Once again.

How much energy can an individual find a way out? fighting for a cause? This drawing presents this surviving individual. The individual is tired, exhausted and drained. A giant boulder is holding him back. He holds a flag that is being devoured by fire.

The flag is made of patches, or band-aids that are placed on superficial wounds, on scratches. It symbolizes the effort to provide infinite solutions that are not definitive or deep, only partial measures.

The three clocks are on the spine and the back. They accompany him inseparably. The advance of time is a pressure that does not run in his favor. Beneath the chains is a group of creatures that wish to alleviate and reduce this unbearable weight, or at the very least, to restore the mood and vigor lost.

The chain is also an Umbilical Cord, a thread that makes you dependent on a larger organ. The cord and the chain are related. Both bind the individual, preventing his independence. Limiting his emancipation. The individual is restricted to being an appendage. He is a slave, in the broadest sense, lacking freedom. An individual who grants power to another over himself. The lack of independence on the financial plane and particularly on the emotional plane. It is a reactive being, and not an active being.

The bat wings represent the archetypal figure of the Vampire. Born in Europe to symbolize in the figure of a monster, the superstitious thought of the old order in the 18th century, the enemy of enlightened thought, the antagonist of rational thought. Since it was not possible to ignore, suppress or deny it, the threat is finally accepted in the form of a legend or myth. Enlightened European culture decides to treat this undesirable with "hospitality", i.e. a host who accepts the guest conditionally, under its rules.

In this case, the chained subject is also vampiric, since he does not manage to conquer this freedom, he is not able to redeem himself from his penance. It is a form and a way of thinking that has been left behind and set aside. A thought surpassed by humanity that advances, and that advances tirelessly, accelerating, in all its struggles, towards an escalation in the aspirations for total freedom.

For all this, the battle is not only external, but mainly internal. With myself. With self-sabotage.
