This pencil drawing by C. Abdelghafar, dated 20 March 2004, shows a giraffe at full gallop. The giraffe's characteristic coat drawing with fine, merging lines gives the animal texture and depth, while at the same time emphasising its distinctive spots. The contours of the giraffe are soft and flowing, emphasising the animal's grace. The background is deliberately minimalist, with only a few light strokes to indicate the ground.
