Is it about physical pleasure? mental bliss? Or mystical rapture?
It is difficult to establish it with certainty.
The figure of the woman I drew seems to come out of the shadows but she still appears to be totally immersed in the pleasure
For this work, I was inspired by the great erotic art that goes from Ingres to Picasso in which eroticism transcends itself to become the metaphor of the relationship between the human subject and his own ego and between the individual with the social group.
This relationship constitutes what we call society and yet eroticism interpreted In what we can consider “great art” eroticism can be interpreted as an instrument useful to investigate the mystery of our origin, the mystery of our psyche and, finally, the mystery of our relationship with the dimension of the divine. As Bataille explains the link between the eroticism and the sacred, e.g. the relationship between Eros and Thanatos, is absolutely indissoluble and constitutes the deepest core of our psyche, that bottom area of our brain, full of chaos, which is the most primitive part of our mind. Since childhood, we are forced to rationalize it in order to reach the constitution of the “identity principle”. Ecstasis n.8
