The Photo was taken of the great Torii at Itsukushima Shrine in Miyajima, Japan. The great Torii is the boundary between the spirit and the human worlds.
In the light of the sunset, the gate blends into the landscape, merging with the mountains in the background into a single silhouette in front of the setting sun. The feather clouds appear to rise from the gate as a fine veil in front of the sunset.
The photo shows one of the mystic moments in which a man made object, the gate, enters into a dialog with the beautiful natural scenery of the sunset. None of the two would be more beautiful without the other.
The original material is a photo slide, taken with a Nikon F-301, which I then digitalised.
