This big artwork is interesting for their collage technique, the newspapers in the background are glued and painted above with Chinese ink and oil painting. Some of the newspapers are glued in a way, that they stand out: giving volume, personality and chaos to the work.
I chose a gray scale as colors to give seriousness and some tranquility to the figure of the woman, she is also smoking, another sign of calm.
The brushstroke of the skin is almost non-existent and, its lights and shadows are contrasting.
The title corresponds to a pun: the x means "nothing" and the word NEW means new, but the capital letters are a matter of aesthetics. A work that attracts attention must have a name that corresponds with this.
Personally, until now this is my favorite painting, because it inspires me many feelings at once, just looking it carefully.
