Tips for selling on Artelista
Your commitments to Artelista
Artelista offers you an specific space on the website, gives you visibility, promotes your artworks directly to the customer, invests in online marketing in different online platforms, sells the artwork and provides the customer with different methods of payment, issues the Certificate of Authenticity (COA), manages logistics, exports and facilitates a customer service. Be focused on creating, Artelista will take care of everything else.
Artelista provides the artists with a unique space to exhibit and put up for sale their artworks for free. In addition to this free space, you have at your disposal the Artelista PRO services, with which you will improve your sale conditions, the visibility of your artworks, etc.
Artelista has its own watermark and you will be able to add it to all your artworks to protect them against copies and plagiarism. Personal watermarks are not allowed.
Artelista offers you optionally the subscription to different plans to increase the visibility and promotion of your works.
You can sell the following original artworks: paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs, collages, digital art and crafts.
What is a print?
A print is a high-quality print of a photograph using pigmentation techniques in different media types: lithographic paper, photographic paper, photopanel and canvas (already stretched or not).
On Artelista you can sell prints of your original paintings and photographs, as well as prints of your drawings, digital art, engravings, collages and sculptures (picture of a sculpture).
If I work with galleries, can I exhibit and sell artworks on Artelista?
We do not ask for exclusivity. You can work with galleries and sell through Artelista at international level.
If I do not want to sell through Artelista, can I just exhibit my work?
On Artelista you can choose the use you want to do of your site. All the artists can exhibit and sell original artworks and prints through Artelista, but if you are not interested in selling through our website, you have to unmark the option “I want to sell through Artelista” you’ll find in the option “Preferences” in your user’s menu.
Can I upload to Artelista the artworks that are already sold?
You can include on Artelista as many artworks as you want, it does not matter if they are sold. If the artwork you want to include is already sold, you can upload it providing that you inform of its status. Moreover, if you have a high-quality image of the artwork and you own the rights of reproduction, you can sell prints.
The artwork is temporarily unavailable.
If you do not have access to an artwork you have included or want to include on the website, you can inform of it through your user’s menu, in the edit options of any artwork.
You are free to set the price of your artworks according to your fee. You will have to set the price for your prints taking into account the fares recommended by Artelista.
What does the artwork price include?
The price set for the artwork is the retail price including local taxes where applicable. Price does not include delivery costs, customs fees or import duties. Artelista takes on delivery costs.
Artelista's commission is the 35% of the price you set for the artwork (+VAT for artists within the EU). Artelista's commission covers management, delivery costs and transport insurances. If you are subscribed to Artelista PRO, the percentage to apply would depend on the plan you are subscribed to.
You will get the 35% of the price of the print that has been paid by the customer, deducting VAT and local taxes where applicable. Artelista's commission covers costs of production, printing, packaging and delivery.
You should upload images with a minimum of 3 megapixels. We can store high quality images with large format. A high quality uploaded image will allow large format prints and higher sale prices. See our photography tutorial
How can I improve the quality of my photographs?

In order to guarantee the online sale of original works, it is important you can have access to the artworks offered for sale within a period of less than 72 hours after receiving the sales confirmation e-mail. If there is a work that can not be available in less than 72 hours, you will have to mark it as "Not available" or "Sold". The breach of this obligation is considered very serious by Artelista and may result in the artist's withdrawal from Artelista.
How do I know that my artworks have been sold?
If one of your artworks has been sold, we will send you an email with the name of the artwork, the details of the selling and the steps to follow. A copy of this e-mail will be available for you in the section “My sales” in your user’s menu.
How do I pack and send my artwork?
To know how to pack the artwork and which are the documents you need to send the artwork, check our photography tutorial . The document will be accessible after selling an artwork. It is important to follow carefully all the steps to avoid damages in the artwork or problems caused by the lack of documentation.
What is a Certificate of Authenticity (COA)?
The Certificate of Authenticity or COA is a document issued by Artelista for every artwork put up for sale on the website. The document certifies the originality of the artworks sold through Artelista. Every time you sell an artwork, you will have to print the document and send it signed in the package with the artwork as it is explained in the shipping tutorial. In the case of prints, we issue and send the certificate directly to the customer.
Where is the original artwork sent?
The artwork is sent directly to the customer’s home according to the requirements of the Artwork shipping tutorial.
Does Artelista send the original artwork?
Artelista handles the shipment if the country of origin or destination is Spain. If there is a different situation with your order, Artelista will give you instructions on how to send the work.
How does an export work?
Those shipments which are treated as exports are those shipments in which the origin and destination country do not belong to a common economic space (EU, NAFTA, etc.). In this case, the artist is the exporter and the customer is the importer. Artelista will advise you on the documents required to manage the shipment. It is your responsibility to obtain and manage the export documents.
If my artwork gets damaged in transit, will I receive my share of the selling?
All the artworks are sent with an all-risk insurance. If the artwork gets damaged during the shipment, Artelista will pay you your margin of the selling after the payment of the insurance company.
What happens if the customer returns the artwork?
The customer can return an artwork within 14 days after its reception. If the customer returns an original artwork, we will send it back to you at no cost. We will refund the money to the customer if the artwork is in perfect conditions.
How prints are delivered?
We will send you an email when a customer buys a print. Artelista will produce the print and send it directly to the customer.
Once the work is delivered to the customer, Artelista will make you the payment of your margin 14 days after that. This period is stated as the time the customer has to cancel the order and ask for a refund. Artelista guarantees payment once you accept the artist’s contract.
Which is the currency used for international payments?
Artelista makes all payments in Euros.
Is VAT retained on the artist’s margin when selling prints?
Taxes will be applied in accordance with current Spanish regulations depending on the artist’s country of residence for artists who do not live in Spain. The artist can deduct these taxes when filling the tax return. For artists living in Spain, VAT will be applied to the artist’s margin and taxes will be deducted in accordance with current regulations.
