Artwork description

Made from the bark of eucalyptus trees collected in the Valle de Guadalhorce during the trees annual shedding in July/August. We have developed two unique and completely individual ways to use this beautiful material. We are unable to find anyone else in the world who is making art from eucalyptus bark this way.

Our first large piece created using small tiles cut from eucalyptus bark, colour sorted and individually placed. We then use dried natural soils and powdered rock to add additional colour and highlights. This design consists of approximately 40,000 tiles to complete the finished piece. The rich soothing bark art is finished with a custom made solid wood oak frame.

We believe that Kalobi Eucalyptus Art offers clients a bespoke, original art installation that will be a striking focal points for any high end home or commercial premise. The pieces must be viewed to be fully appreciated, both changes in light and the position the pieces are viewed from, bring the artwork to life.

Please contact us with any questions, more pictures and video of this piece or more information on the process we used to bring the rich, soothing tones of eucalyptus into your home.

Artist information

Kalobi Art is made up of husband and wife team, Simon and Victoria. All of the eucalyptus used in our art comes from the trees in the Valle de Guadalhorce in southern Spain. We were inspired to create something beautiful during long walks by the river with our rescue dogs. We always admired the rich, soothing tones of the trees and the bark they naturally give away each year.
