This is my own interpretation of the Painful Virgin (La Dolorosa) painted as an icon. The icons are usually painted in Orthodox tradition in many countries as Ukraine and Russia. I imagine the Virgin Theotokos (Mother of God) full of pain because of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
