This pencil drawing shows a young rhinoceros in an impressive and tender depiction. The characteristic features - the large, alert ears, the wide mouth and the still small base of the horn - have been worked out in detail. The animal's gaze appears curious and gentle, creating an interesting contrast to its robust appearance. Fine pencil strokes have been used to reproduce the different textures of the rhino's skin - from the smooth areas to the more wrinkled parts of the legs and neck. The shading gives the animal volume and vibrancy.
Born 1967 in Zurich, Switzerland, first exhibition 2003, in 2006 I began to paint oil colour on velvet. I like to play with the structure from the velvet. There is a special effect on the painting with velvet.
