This colourful oil painting shows a romantic view of the Grand Canal in Venice at dusk. The famous canal stretches out in the foreground, its deep blue water reflecting the warm colours of the sky and the surrounding buildings. The small boats lend life and movement to the scene. The characteristic Venetian palaces and houses line both sides of the canal. The detailed depiction of the architecture with its Gothic windows, balconies and ornamentation testifies to the artist's care. In the distance, where the canal opens up, the striking silhouette of the dome of Santa Maria della Salute can be seen, towering majestically over the skyline. The sky is painted in soft pastel colours, ranging from yellow to pink to a delicate lavender, capturing the magical mood of the dawning evening. This work is a tribute to the timeless beauty and unique character of the lagoon city.
Born 1967 in Zurich, Switzerland, first exhibition 2003, in 2006 I began to paint oil colour on velvet. I like to play with the structure from the velvet. There is a special effect on the painting with velvet.
