About the artist:

Medellin, Antioquia, Colombia. 1898-1981.

Longas belonged to a group of artists from Antioquia, Colombia, who reflected local figures in their works from both the city and the countryside, between 1920 and 1950, when the emancipation of the national arts from the previous European tradition was glimpsed.

Horacio Longas was born in Medellin, at the end of the XIX century, he was a disciple of the Grand Master Francisco Antonio Cano, from whom he inherited his skill in composition and drawing; he worked in architecture when he was 20 years old. During the following decade he became a cartoonist, and was recognized for his set of pieces "Los Pueblos" ("The Towns" - in english). Finally, he decided to dedicate himself to painting and sculpture, which constituted the activities where he obtained his greatest triumphs.

None of his canvases bears a title, simply because his works and strokes cannot be limited or rigidly defined by words.

He participated in numerous group exhibitions and some truly resounding solo exhibitions, he always dreamed of being a great painter and did not miss the opportunity to say that he had not managed to learn such a difficult trade. Longas left a large family, whose members cultivate the memory of their ancestor with profound love and admiration.

Master Longas died in Medellín, at the age of 83, in full lucidity; Since then, his varied artistic production always arouses great admiration, acquiring more and more prestige every day.

Don't miss the opportunity to add this marvelous piece to your collection.
