,,Alienation Series”
Without the ability to actualize an idea or concept, art would not exist. My work is a constant search for the best way to interpret the ideas that I have about myself and the world I live in. I do not limit myself to one medium, style, or concept. Each piece I create is simultaneously an extension from the past, where I've come from and what I've learned, as well as a preview of the future, where I'm going. I like the idea that form doesn't necessarily need a function, but I also like the idea that function has to work with form and form has to work with function.
Gela Mikava is a Georgian artist. He was born in Zugdidi in 1995, in a family of IDPs from Abkhazia. Gela won his first art competition at the age of 6 when he drew the image of the Coat of Arms of Georgia with chalk.
“When I think of something to say, my hand moves automatically, I trust my instincts and it comes naturally. I don’t think about the color and shape, they come by themselves as if they were meant to be.” -Gela Mikava
