En esta obra tenemos a una joven que vive en lo que alguna vez fuese una ciudad imperial. Esa etapa de grandeza de la ciudad ha desaparecido por completo, y ahora sólo yacen en el sitio las ruinas decadentes. Además de la joven hay un remero que la observa a cierta distancia, sus intenciones no son claras, ¿querrá sacarla de allí?, ¿querrá llevarla con él?.
Como siempre la técnica utilizada imita a la pintura al óleo.
