This oil painting depicts a dramatic volcanic eruption of Mount Etna. The volcano rises in the centre of the picture, its crater glowing an intense white-orange and showing a massive eruption. Fiery streams of lava and glowing clouds of ash shoot up into the night sky. This explosive energy contrasts strongly with the dark background, which hints at the night scene. The sky is coloured in warm orange and red tones, which intensify towards the right and create a glowing atmosphere. This reinforces the impression of heat and dramatic lighting emanating from the eruption. The composition inevitably draws the viewer's gaze to the explosive centre of the volcano and conveys a sense of awe and respect for the forces of nature.
Born 1967 in Zurich, Switzerland, first exhibition 2003, in 2006 I began to paint oil colour on velvet. I like to play with the structure from the velvet. There is a special effect on the painting with velvet.
