This impressive oil painting captures the breathtaking power and beauty of the mighty Victoria Falls. In the foreground, the mighty waterfall dominates the picture. Massive masses of water plunge over a dark cliff edge into the depths. The contrast between the white foam and the darker rocks lends depth and drama to the scene. The upper part of the picture shows a clear, blue sky with scattered soft clouds, which lend the painting a peaceful note and contrast with the wildness of the waterfall. A strip of green vegetation can be seen on the horizon, emphasising the naturalness of the scene. The small rainbow at the top right edge hints at the gigantic dimensions of this waterfall. The brushwork varies from broad, bold strokes for the main structures of the waterfall to fine, detailed lines for the spray and water splashes. This technique lends the work both power and delicacy.
Born 1967 in Zurich, Switzerland, first exhibition 2003, in 2006 I began to paint oil colour on velvet. I like to play with the structure from the velvet. There is a special effect on the painting with velvet.
