Representación del mito griego clásico de la llegada de la primavera. Perséfone es raptada por Hades al comer un fruto de granada. Como consecuencia, su madre, Deméter, asola la tierra y la sume en un invierno prolongado. Finalmente, Hades y Deméter, acuerdan que Perséfone pase 6 meses con Hades (otoño e invierno) y pase 6 meses con su madre (primavera y verano). La primavera, es el momento en que Perséfone vuelve del Hades a la tierra.
