Esta obra está inspirada en la Gradiva del relato corto de Jensen sobre el que Sigmund Freud realizaría su pionero ensayo. El tema, resumido en el gracil paso de una mujer antigua, trata sobre como el idealismo, en tanto nos aleja del mundo real, nos conduce a la fantasmagoría surrealista y en última instancia a la locura, especialmente cuando la obsesión y delirio está centrado en la busqueda de la belleza.
