Artwork description

In the parish of Amil (Moraña) the Sanctuary is located, in the place known as A Chan.

The temple is a work of very marked characteristics and beauty, in which Master Manuel García de Soar knew how to leave his art and industriousness. This factory occupies about 220 square meters, its style is neoclassical, with a polygonal plan with a beautiful portico at the entrance, flanked by slender columns of Tuscan order, supporting a simple pediment formed by classic and well-designed cornice; In the center is the clock that from this spiritual beacon marks the efforts of the people of the valley of the old and historic Coto de Amil.

Then follows the original monument, its well-carved walls with perfect lines formed by eight high-rise canvases, flanked on the inside by three doors, the main one with a double opening and two lateral ones. At the back of the fifth side, the Sacristy, not very spacious, from the same time of the work, with a quadrangular plan, which is passed behind the main altar, the original complex is finished with a very beautiful dome, whose closure was verified in 1868. Above it and for the sole purpose of beautifying it, a small dome is shown, without lights or other decorations, the work of the rector Mr. José Benito Ferro.

The exterior of the eight sides of the polygon is crowned by a daring impost with regular lines, a baroque balcony, all made of granite, and slender and well-designed pinnacles, which give the whole an extraordinary typicality and beauty, in the manner of the Pilgrim of Pontevedra.

Above the façade rises the graceful outline of the bell tower, with classic lines and three bodies divided by cornices; The first ends in four simple pinnacles and the same number of arches in which the bells are found. The second, openworked by eight arches, on which runs a simple arch from which the last body starts, a polygonal dome, ending in a high and well-molded pinnacle that crowns an iron cross. On both sides of the tower, two simple pinnacles give slenderness and elegance to the whole, which in turn finish off the front.

This architectural complex rises on that fortified plateau of "A Chan", with oaks, acacias, camellias and other species that lend the large field of the sanctuary an unusual beauty, and at whose feet it lies splendidly beautiful, with its green meadows. , its hillocks hidden among the foliage of ancient forests, its captivating orchards and cheerful streams, the often praised valley of Moraña.

This work measures 45*35 and has a fine black frame and Pas partu.
