This wonderful painting on velvet shows a panda bear in its natural habitat. The panda's expressive face takes centre stage. Its dark, shiny eyes look directly at the viewer and convey a mixture of curiosity and serenity. The animal's characteristic black and white fur is depicted with remarkable attention to detail. Fine brushstrokes capture the different textures of the fur - from the soft, downy areas to the coarser parts. Overall, this painting captures not only the physical appearance of the panda, but also something of its nature and environment. It is an impressive portrait that celebrates the beauty and dignity of this endangered species. The technique of oil on velvet is very rarely used as it is very time-consuming and difficult.
Born 1967 in Zurich, Switzerland, first exhibition 2003, in 2006 I began to paint oil colour on velvet. I like to play with the structure from the velvet. There is a special effect on the painting with velvet.
