El zen - Dhyana en sánscrito - remonta a la experiencia de Buda Shakyamuni, quien realizó el despertar en la postura de zazen en el siglo VI DC. Esa experiencia se transmitió sin interrupción de maestro a discípulo, formando así la línea zen.
El Budismo mismo es un fruto del zazen. La leyenda dice que antes del Buda Shakyamuni ya había siete Budas, el Budismo se refiere entonces a un tiempo anterior a él mismo.
Como admiración a esta cultura realice esta serie de grabados editadas en papel verjurado y series de 10 ejemplares cada uno.
