Su madre Maite Laskibar fallece al igual que sus dos hermanas Maite y Miren en 1958.


Ya habia fallecido Miren Maite la primera de las hijas en 1956.


Estas circunstancias marcaràn inevitablemente la vida de Xabier y nutriran fuertemente su sensibilidad.
