She immigrated to the United States in 1972 at age 17 and has Lived in the Boston-Cambridge Massachusetts area ever since. Varon earned her Bachelor Degree from Brandeis University in 1976, her Masters Degree from Lesley University in 1992 and Doctorate Degree from Harvard University in 2004.
