Artwork description

Pintura a Pastel sobre papel Canson por Jim Barber Hove. 23 x 30 cm(9?x12?)
Cervatillo

On one of our family trips to Cancún we visited a place called Aktun Chen. This is a not so well known tourist park on the road to Tulum. Here there are many attractions such as exploring the Aktun Chen cavern with its myriad of underground passages, enjoying the petting zoo where you will find many animals native to the area, flying over the jungle on an aerial zip-line, snorkeling in the crystal clear waters of the ?cenotes? (sink wells) or taking long hikes on the numerous trails that take you through the Mayan jungle. The area is still preserved in its natural state. If you are ever in the area you must visit it, you won?t be let down.
In this painting we see a young doe who is looking me, the photographer, over. The mother deer was close at hand but she is not at all afraid because she, like all the other zoo animals, are quite accustomed to the tourists who to them signify free food such as potato chips, sweet candy and even whole sandwiches.

Artist information

Since I can remember I have had an urge to express myself artistically. As a young student, I was interested in sports, singing and theater. In my years at West Bend High School, I was selected to sing in the school choir, to play trumpet in the school band and to act in the school musical productions.
