Se construyó una torre, que fue demolida en 1850. A principios de siglo 1906-1911 los padres belgas, a cargo de la Iglesia y el Convento, emprendieron una renovación del templo que incluyó el recubrimiento de las fachadas con hormigón y la construcción de una nueva torre.
