José María Arteaga (1827-1865) Destacado militar liberal. Organizó el Partido Progresista de Querétaro y fue electo Gobernador en 1857. Participó en la guerra de los “Tres Años” protagonizada por liberales y los conservadores y en la guerra contra la invasión francesa fue hecho prisionero y fusilado en Uruapan, Michoacán
