Pintura a Pastel sobre papel Canson por Jim Barber Hove. 57 x 43 cm (22.5?x17?)
Azaleas

Azaleas
I am in love with my back yard. There I can meditate, enjoy the pure, perfumed air, get exercise cutting my grass, have picnics with my family, cook a thick sirloin on my charcoal grill and play with my grandchildren. It is a place of relaxation where I feel part of nature. In this painting, Azaleas, I give you one of my favorite plants. Because of our tropical climate in the mountainous region of Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico, it flowers all year round.
Here I have painted a portrait of a flower which, completely in love and with open petals in pose of sensuality and total abandonment, welcomes the Sun God. I greatly enjoyed doing this painting and I gave special attention to the effects of lights and shadows. I also tried to create the illusion of depth.
Since I can remember I have had an urge to express myself artistically. As a young student, I was interested in sports, singing and theater. In my years at West Bend High School, I was selected to sing in the school choir, to play trumpet in the school band and to act in the school musical productions.
