El Sanson es un remolcador de altura de finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX. Su máquina es movida por una caldera de vapor, que bien podría desarrollar 2000 CV de potencia y una velocidad de 14 nudos. Dispone de defensas muy grandes en la proa y en los costados. Generalmente, su cometido no es remolcar, sino "empujar" a los gigantes del Atlántico.
