Enric Rubió was born in Girona, Spain, in the region of Spain called Catalonia. Catalonia (in particular the areas near and in Barcelona) is renown as the birthplace of numerous world-renowned painters such as Joan Miro, Mariano Fortuny and Salvador Dalí. Today, the region has undergone an incredible Renaissance of figurative painting, a movement at which Rubió is at the forefront.
