As a painter, Magnolia Rivera has exhibited her visual work in Mexico and Central America since 1980. Holds a Masters degree in Visual Arts with honors (Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico).
As a writer, is International Essay Prize XXI Century 2004, one of the most important awards that are given in this genre in Spanish-speaking.
