inspirado en el film surrealista en clave de ciencia ficción, la segunda película de Gondry plantea la posibilidad tecnológica de borrar de la propia mente los recuerdos de personas alguna vez queridas, incluso la posibilidad de borrar a las personas mismas. Este es el punto de partida (y de llegada) de una película que bucea en la psiquis protagónica, en los recuerdos, traumas y humillaciones del protagonista, quien se propone borrarse a una chica, se arrepiente en el mismo proceso de borrado y libra una batalla cuerpo a cuerpo entre su mínimo grado de conciencia-voluntad y la tecnología blanqueadora que –estando inconsciente– lo excede.
