Born on February 12, 1940 in Popayan (Cauca), son of JUAN DE LA TORRE AND SILVEIRA ALVAN VALVERDE, from an early age showed a great interest in the art of painting self-taught, supplementing his studies at the School of Fine Arts his hometown and then in Cali as he continued his studies and work with the master painter JUAN DE BURGOS, as a restorer of works of Iglesias in Popayan.
