Her face is worked out in detail and takes centre stage in the painting. The lioness's amber-coloured eyes gaze intensely and vigilantly, further emphasising her presence. The slightly open mouth with visible teeth reinforces the impression of a lurking huntress. The depiction of the fur is particularly impressive. The texture and movement of the fur has been captured with fine brushstrokes, lending the painting a lively quality. The lioness's musculature and body shape are masterfully emphasised through subtle shading and light reflections. The painting captures not only the physical appearance of a lioness, but also her nature as a predator. The technique of oil on velvet is very rarely used, as it is very time-consuming and difficult.
Born 1967 in Zurich, Switzerland, first exhibition 2003, in 2006 I began to paint oil colour on velvet. I like to play with the structure from the velvet. There is a special effect on the painting with velvet.
