Icaro y su padre, Dédalo, construyeron dos pares de alas para escapar del laberinto de Minos y la isla de Creta.

Pero Icaro al quedar hipnotizado por la belleza del cielo, el mar y las aves, olvidó el consejo de su padre de no volar demasiado alto porque sus alas se derretirían con el calor del Sol.

Es una metáfora acerca de lo que es capaz el hombre por alcanzar su libertad, aunque esta signifique la muerte.
