He abierto una puerta
y dando pasos hacia delante
he dejado una vida atrás.
Por primera vez en muchos años
me detuve y miré hacia atrás
mirando lo que había ganado,
pero también lo que perdí,
y sopesa tanto una cosa
como la otra,
que de no haber elegido ganar
por no perder
se me hubiera desgarrado
el alma
de la misma forma en que ya me desgarré.
