Martín Castellanos nació en Montevideo (Uruguay) el 4 de febrero de 1981. En el año 2001 ingresó a la Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes de su ciudad. Tras concluir la parte troncal de la carrera, realizó los siguientes talleres:

2004: Profesores Héctor Laborde y Anelo Hernández
2005: Profesor Anelo Hernández
2006: Profesor Carlos Seveso
