SriCaitanya Mahaprabhu dijo: «Tras vencer a la Luna y a la flor de loto, Krishna deseó capturar a las gopis, semejantes a ciervas. Para ello extendió el lazo de Su hermoso rostro, y en ese lazo puso el señuelo de Su dulce sonrisa para engañar a las gopis. Las gopis cayeron en la trampa y abandonaron el hogar, con sus esposos, la familia y el prestigio, para ser las sirvientas de Krishna.
