Esta obra pertenece a la Serie “Nocturno del desnudo”, a la cual pertenecen “Nocturno” (1953) y “Noche de estío” (1953), finalizando con la obra aquí reproducida como última y más perfeccionada de la serie. Rafael Zabaleta (1907 - 1960) era un pintor metódico y perfeccionista, cuando un tema era de su agrado solía insistir en el, realizando modificaciones que entendía que contribuían a mejorar su obra, como puede apreciarse en sus diversas series temáticas.
