Uno de los atractivos más significativo del Partido es la Albúfera de Mar Chiquita. Unica en el país, esta laguna de unos 45 km2 de superficie recibe el aporte de aguas dulces de la cuenca continental y de agua salada del mar. Mar, playas, médanos vivos, pastizales, médanos vegetados, bañados, praderas húmedas, hacen de este lugar un paisaje con una flora y una fauna singular, reconocida como Reserva Mundial de Biósfera por la Unesco.
