This atmospheric oil painting shows a winter landscape dominated by cool blue tones and delicate shades of white. A peaceful, almost dreamlike winter scene has been created that transports the viewer into a quiet, snow-covered world. Fine, white blades of grass can be recognised at the edges of the river and in the foreground, lending the picture additional texture and detail. The hut on the left-hand edge of the picture ideally complements the composition. The delicate, white branches of the trees stand out gently against the blue sky and form an eye-catcher in the centre of the composition. The entire scene is enveloped in soft, blurred contours, giving the painting a dreamlike, almost impressionistic quality. The colour transitions are fluid and convey the impression of lightness and stillness that are typical of a snowy winter landscape. The oil on velvet technique is very rarely used, as it is very time-consuming and difficult.
Born 1967 in Zurich, Switzerland, first exhibition 2003, in 2006 I began to paint oil colour on velvet. I like to play with the structure from the velvet. There is a special effect on the painting with velvet.
