La storia della maschera veneziana ha origini antichissime: infatti, già nel 1271, esisteva una scuola dei "maschereri", dove si usava l'argilla per il modello, il gesso per il calco, la carta pesta, la colla di farina,e la garza per la consistenza, i colori a tempera per dipingerla.
