This oil painting shows the curved, spiral structure of the Andromeda galaxy, which consists of white, light blue and yellowish colour trails that wind their way across the canvas. The light colour tones contrast strongly with the deep black background, creating a dramatic effect. The brushstrokes appear energetic and expressive, giving the work a lively, almost cosmic quality. In the centre of the spiral there are several larger yellow splashes of colour, the stars. Smaller yellow speckles are scattered throughout the composition and reinforce the impression of a galactic or nebulous scenario. The texture of the painting is rich and multi-layered, with areas of thick colour application giving the work a three-dimensional quality.
Born 1967 in Zurich, Switzerland, first exhibition 2003, in 2006 I began to paint oil colour on velvet. I like to play with the structure from the velvet. There is a special effect on the painting with velvet.
