La obra trata de reflejar ese instante previo en que un hombre y su arma se funden en un solo deseo, la supervivencia, en un periodo (Guerra del Pacifico 1879 – 1884) donde todavía era común el enfrentamiento cuerpo a cuerpo entre soldados de ejércitos enfrentados.
