Versatil creador cubano de increible imaginación y color caribeño. Fundador de la Asociación de grabadores de Cuba en los años 40 y primer director en 1959 de la Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes San Alejandro, fundada gracias a la Real Sociedad de amigos del pais, al Obispo Espada y a Don Francisco de Goya y Lucientes, en aquel momento director de la Academia Española. Carmelo se graduó con premios y honores en cada asignatura de dicha academia y ganó la Bolsa de viaje. Estudió Lithografía varios años en New York y viajo por toda europa en los 40, fué el primer presidente de lá sección de artes plásticas de la Union de escritores y artistas de Cuba, cargo que ejerció durante 9 años.

Carmelo González Iglesias, born in the coastal town of Casablanca, in the City of Havana on July 16, 1920. Cuban mother and Spanish father, make it inherit this mixture as a brash and noble temperament.
