La escultura de bronce, presenta a una Amazona sobre una yegua rota. Es única, al haber sido realizada a la cera perdida, y ha sido pintada en colores.
Es de tendencia figurativa-expresionista, con acabado imperfecto y aberturas que aligera la masa compacta. Metáforas de la necesidad de la escultora Abreu de abrir una ruta hacia el interior humano y mostrar la esencia de los pensamientos y como símbolo del perdido poder femenino, como una reivindicación que demanda un papel más protagonista y activo para la mujer en todos los terrenos: económico, intelectual, político, religioso, sexual...

Artist information

ABREU The sculptor has made a series of rare works carved in stone. Among them: "Peace Monument" (1988) installed in the Parque de la Paz de Zaragoza, Spain. His "AWOLTAN" (1991) to the substance of the Museum of Contemporary Art de Huelva, now installed in the Parque da Zafra de Huelva. "Monument to the Discoveries" (1992), five sculptures of naked people located in the Park V Centenario de Lepe (Huelva).
