Llamado zorro colorado,se distribuye especialmente a lo largo de la Cordillera de los Andes,se alimenta de roedores, liebres, aves y lagartos; en menor medida consume plantas y carroña.

Lamentablemente en la precordillera se chilena se ha visto tratando de cazar libres en un hbitad cada vez mas limitado.
